SUP CLASSES ZANZIBAR
With Zanzibar’s flat water, paddleboarding will never go wrong. Paje Beach has been named the best spot for paddleboarding by tourists who have been there and experienced it. Kite N’ Surf offers SUP classes in Zanzibar to let everyone have a taste of the magic of the place and this watersport combined. Even for a first-timer – SUP boarding will come easy as 1 2 3!
KITE N’ SURF STAND UP PADDLING CLASSES
Is it right for you? Well, our SUP Basics class is designed to introduce you to stand-up paddling. We offer our SUP Basics paddleboard classes to people who want to try to stand up paddling for the first time.
If you have learned to paddle on your own or have been introduced to this sport by friends or family, but have not had formal paddling instruction, you are welcome to join our class, or you may simply rent our paddleboards with your companions.
It is common for first-time paddlers to be nervous, fearing they will lose their balance, or fall in. People rarely fall in, and few have difficulty with balance after the first few minutes. But don’t worry! Can you ski or ride a bike? If your answer is yes, then you can paddle!

- The first step towards safety is swimming (can you do it?).
- Choosing a paddle and taking care of your board (equipment basics).
- Learn the proper techniques for paddling
- Improve your balancing skills
- Know how to turn in two different ways
- Learn how to paddle by using your core and lower body
- Paddle a short distance recreationally
- Get the most out of paddle boarding fitness benefits
Here’s your objective: As a recreational paddler, you must be able to paddle one kilometer in good form, with comfortable turns, and understand the weather conditions and safety measures.
Duration: 3 hours (can be done on different days) in a group of 5 persons every Tuesday/Friday/Saturday 8:30 am
- Setting up a stand-up paddleboard independently
- Improve sup paddling technique
- Enhance the efficiency of paddleboarding strokes
- Improve your control in directing the SUP board
- Learn a third technique for turning your SUP board
- Use CORE and lower body consistently when paddling
- Practice how to easily paddle 4 km
- Take part in a race
- Optimize your fitness level by using the correct SUP technique
Here’s your objective: Be able to paddle for 3 km at a consistent pace in varying weather conditions, using the proper paddling technique, feeling confident and safe on the water.
Duration: The class is 4 hours long (it can be done on different days) every Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
- Practicing a little bit of paddling technique with an emphasis on HIP DRIVE and REACH
- Ability to paddleboard in all weather conditions
- Practicing upwind and downwind paddling, side chops, moving up and down the board, sprinting
- Learn how to completely control the board in any direction
- Pivot turns
- Strength, endurance, and power drills for developing SUP stamina
- Training for race teams
Here’s your objective: Having the ability to paddle for 4 miles in any conditions (an average of 8 minutes/km). Regardless of what mother nature throws at you, you will still feel confident riding on your paddleboard.
Duration: Classes are 5 hours long (can vary in days) and take place every Tuesday/Friday/Saturday at 6 a.m. and 3 p.m.
